Mid-day

I didn't like London when I first got here. I like it even less now.

We've been in Oz for a good while now. I'm not sure how long. I don't even know if time runs the same way there that it does in our world. Magic's a funny thing. It does look like we've only been away a short time, though. I'll admit, I was half expecting to find that seven years had passed in a single night, but Oz isn't that sort of fairyland. It's just that after what I saw in the lands of Ev and Oz, every single vile, cruel, harsh, or uncivilized aspect of modern London stands out in sharp relief.

Thank Heaven I'm not going to be here long. After what we saw of the Prufrocks' plans for Oz - and possibly the other fairy lands as well - we've decided to gather what resources we can to oppose them. I believe I can make a reasonable case for involving the RCMP in this. It won't be easy, but if I'm on loan to direct Crown service for the purpose of thwarting a potential danger to the entire British Empire, I believe I can persuade Inspector Moore to loan me some more Mounties to assist. I'll admit, I'm not relying on the strength of the argument here. After what happened in Oz- well. There's something very different going on. I don't know how else to describe it, but. . . Dorothy listened to reason, even though she had every excuse in the world not to. I don't know if she would've listened to the same arguments coming from anyone else in our group. I think- maybe- that Inspector Moore will believe me.

Anyway, that's in the future. Right now the important thing is for us to marshal our resources as quickly as possible. The dirigible takes too long, so Miss Poppins is taking each of the League members home via painting, one at a time. She's at the Tate now with Cranston, looking for paintings of New York City. I'm not looking forward to it, but I don't think I have a choice.
